Amy was creatively influenced from an early age by her artist father and grew up on Georgia's Golden Isles. After graduating from the University of Georgia, Amy moved to New York City to work in advertising at Ogilvy and later at American Express. In 1997, Amy moved to Hong Kong with her husband, Frank Smilovic, and acted on her creative and entrepreneurial instincts. Surrounded by the a vibrant business community in Hong Kong, Amy scoured local fabric markets to bring her clothing sketches to life. Her pieces found an enthusiastic audience of expatriates and soon, Lane Crawford signed on as Tibi's first wholesale account. Three years later, the Smilovics moved back to the United States and established Tibi's corporate headquarters in New York City.
Today, Amy runs the business together with Frank with a team of 75 persons. Amy designs four collections a year and presents two runway collections during New York Fashion Week and the collection has been covered by global fashion titles including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, ODDA, Elle, Porter, WWD, and the Business Of Fashion.
