WERKSTATT:MÜNCHEN is synonym of artisanal beauty and industrial romanticism. Founded in 1998 by Klaus Lohmeyer, the brand features jewelry, lifestyle objects and leather goods entirely hand made in Germany, where the company is based.
With a background in philosophy, politics and music, Klaus Lohmeyer eventually turned to craftwork driven by his passion for raw materials such as silver and vegetable tanned leather. After having studied silversmith and goldsmith at the prestigious Staatliche Berufsfachschule für Glas und Schmuck of Kaufbeuren, Klaus Lohmeyer set up his own company WERKSTATT:MÜNCHEN. He further enriched his knowledge becoming Master Craftsman, the highest level an artisan can reach, and he started to showcase his creations in Paris in 1999.
Born out of a necessity, WERKSTATT:MÜNCHEN blends together meaning, function and timeless elegance into finely crafted pieces. Drawing inspiration from contemporary culture, past memories and symbolism, Klaus aims to embellish people with their very own personality. His unique creative approach led him to collaborate with other desi- gners who share a similar ethos such as ANN DEMEULEMEESTER, with whom he developed exclusive jewelry collections highlighting the brands’ respective heritages.
The industrial vibes that shape WERKSTATT:MÜNCHEN’s creations come directly from the company’s HQ, an old foundry placed in the heart of Munich characterized by a long history. Within the workshop’s suggestive atmosphere, Klaus Lohmeyer and a skilled team work with passion and precision to create pieces that have a “soul“, as emotions are the ultimate luxury in a fully digitalized and machine-made world. Small irregularities and vivid surfaces make each design truly unique, respecting the natural reactions of metals to the working process.
Through genuine creativity and solid skills, WERKSTATT:MÜNCHEN re-establishes the timeless value of precious as things to be inherited, passing on stories and traditions from generation to generation.
