The Association of Footwear and Espadrille Industries of the Northwest of Murcia was created in 2003, bringing together practically the entire sector in Caravaca and the Northwest region of the Region of Murcia.

At the end of 2015, the entrepreneurs raised the need to relaunch this associative movement in view of the significant growth that the sector has been experiencing in the last five years and the important challenges they face for its consolidation, around the artisan values that it brings together.

The Association, whose headquarters are located in Caravaca de la Cruz, has expanded the object of its activity to auxiliary companies (manufacturers of jute soles, repair workshops, industrial machinery,...

) and related manufacturing companies with common problems, such as the leather goods. In 2020, the Association has more than 40 companies based in Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Bullas, Alhama de Murcia and Moratalla, which directly employ about 650 people on a stable basis, a number that triples during the high season months.
