Olympia’s highly original creations have attracted the attention of magazines, celebrities and collectors, quickly becoming cult items.
On Thursday, 12 January, a parisian atmosphere and charming location in Florence will be the setting for a site-specific performance that will include the presentation of something that Olympia created especially for Pitti W and for Florence.
Olympia Le-Tan, daughter of French illustrator Pierre Le-Tan, was born in London and raised in Paris. She studied Italian at the University of London, and then went to the art school in Paris before getting a job at the Chanel design studio with Karl Lagerfeld at the age of 19.
So she started her 7-year collaboration with designer Gilles Dufour, at that time director of the Chanel studio. After 1 year and a half at Chanel, she followed Gilles to Balmain and assisted him in designing the 4 collections he signed for the house.
At the same time Olympia was also working alone on her handmade handbag label, “Olympia Le-Tan”. The bags were sold in major fashion selected shops such as Colette in Paris, Browns in London, Barneys New York.
