After the announcement of J.W. Anderson as special guest at the next edition of Pitti Immagine fair which will be held in Florence, the Tuscan kermesse enriches its super guests list with the American designer Virgil Abloh, architect and Off White brand’s creative director, who will be the protagonist of an expected event for the 15 June. The label will present its menswear Spring Summer 2018 collection together with selected looks of its womenswear pre-collection.

“It’s with great honor that I will be debuting my work as part of Pitti Immagine Uomo 92. I recognize that this platform is amongst the most important arenas for recording fashion history over the years”, said the designer. “And it’s my goal to add a unique chapter to that story”.
“In a time that’s mixing the traditional hierarchies amongst fashion, streetwear and role distinctions”, stated Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine Director of Communications and Events. “Virgil Abloh has transformed his own lifestyle into a successful brand. He has led Off-White to full stylistic maturity without losing his, sometimes very immediate and impudent, brashness that made his name in the beginning. Virgil is an Architect and Engineer. He was raised in the United States, the child of immigrants from Ghana, and became a Creative Director, indefatigable DJ and Entertainer. Now there’s this legend about his ubiquity. Who knows… maybe here in Florence, we will discover that there is more than one Virgil Abloh… or perhaps three or four.”

Born in Rockford in 1980, with a degree in civil engineering, Virgil Abloh boasts a number of collaboration with multiple artists including Nick Knight, Riccardo Tisci, Kim Jones, Takashi Murakami, Olivier Rousteing, Giuseppe Zanotti, George Condo and Silvia Venturini for Fendi.
A career based on the Bauhaus principles - the German artistic movement of 900 - and influenced by the works of Caravaggio, the Architects Mies van der Rohe and Rem Koolhaas.
The Milan based brand, founded in 2013, unites a street attitude with luxury tailoring and contains seasonal collections of men’s and women’s clothing, objects, furniture, and publications expressing a current culture vision. Currently the label is sold in the most important stores worldwide like Selfridges, Barneys New York and Net-a-Porter.
