The circular economy

A circular economy is an economic model designed to eliminate waste and restore valuable resources.
In this model, material flows in a circle rather than in a straight line – it efficiently recirculates the raw material and valuable resources used to produce new goods.
A circular economy, aims to constantly keep products, components and materials at their maximum usefulness and value. Waste, as we know it, does not exist in the circular economy

Shifting to a circular economy could be the biggest step to modernise global production and consumption since the Industrial Revolution.

To become circular, the fashion industry...

> Must free all its creators subject to the constraints of the financial world which has imposed a multitude of additional deadlines to satisfy its interests and requirements.
Magic and creativity must once again reveal themselves as the common characteristics of fashion designers' collections.

> Must regenerate its production system concerning:
- the criteria to be adopted in the choice of raw materials and products to be used for dyeing them.
- the shaping, in order to enhance the artisanal know-how that brings added value to the collections.

> Must ensure compliance with the standards governing the working conditions of those employed or involved in production (safety, hygiene, work rhythms, etc.).

> Must also ensure that the workshops and factories involved in production work in compliance with sustainability rules and standards.

> Must review if necessary the system of shipping goods if it does not comply with sustainability criteria.

> Must establish a commercial dynamic in the sales campaigns so as not to unbalance the market with a surplus of clothes for sale, at the risk of forcing retailers to put them on end-of-season sales, without considering the waste caused by unsold stocks.

> Must participate in synergy with retailers to spread the culture of circular economy and sustainability. All the more so as these subjects now condition the behaviour of the public and especially of the new generation of consumers.
- The retailer must be put in a position to valorise the materials of a collection that respect the values of the circular economy and consequently to valorise the logic of recycling. The retailer will in any case be obliged to transmit to his customer the guarantees of conformity of the purchase with the criteria of sustainability (traceability).

But the circular economy must also integrate the various reflections and suggestions expressed during the period of confinement and in particular the 2 proposals presented during this period by 2 distinct groups of internationally renowned creators. Proposals that were supported by a large number of designers, managers buyers and personalities from fashion professional sector.
