Paris Women's Fashion Week FW 22-23: the Highlights

Paris Fashion Week took place from February 28 to March 8, unveiling the new collection dedicated to the fall-winter 2022-23 season. Modem selected seven talented brands presenting in the women's calendar.

Weinsanto
Victor Weinsanto launched his namesake line in 2020. He brings his love of performing arts into his fun, colorful and cabaret-themed presentations. He finds inspiration in live entertainment and Art in general. The models for Weinsanto’s shows are often Muses and friends from different creative backgrounds such as dancing, acting, and cabaret. He is also inspired by history, architecture, and music. He boasts a formative experience at Jean Paul Gaultier. Celebrities who wear Weinsanto includes Madonna, Olivia Rodrigo, Bilal Hassani. Weinsanto launched the exclusive first circular collection as Phygital NFT’s at Dover Street Little Market in Paris, powered by Spin, the first Circular Fashion Metaverse by Lablaco. Weinsanto's creations are known for their couture cuts and a dramatic style with a touch of romance. Weinsanto has been featured in Emily in Paris season 2.







Boyarovskaya
Boyarovskaya is a Paris-based womenswear brand founded in 2016 by Belarusian stylist and a former designer for Givenchy and John Galliano Maria Boyarovskaya together with Ukrainian fashion photographer Artem Kononenko. Deconstructing the codes of couture, their clothes are minimalist and often decomposable. They create modern pieces made of sophisticated materials, with curved cuts and deconstructed tailoring that embody a cool Parisian style.







Kimhēkim
After graduating from the Berçot Studio in Paris, Kiminte Kimhēkim works for two years at Balenciaga with Nicolas Ghesquière. She launched his line, Kimhēkim, in 2014, and then made his debut at Paris fashion week FW 19-20. The brand represents the Korean heritage interpreting modern forms. Kimhēkim comes from the full last name of the ancient royal family in Korea symbolizing the era of the golden kingdom. The label focuses on tailoring and essential details that create handmade couture, combining traditional Korean elements and Western tailoring.







Mame Kurogouchitre
Graduated from Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, Maiko Kurogouchi is the designer behind the womenswear label Mame Kurogouchi. Tokyo-based designer, considered as one of Japan’s most exciting emerging talents, founded her line in 2010, after three years working alongside Issey Miyake. Her collections combine timeless design and traditional Japanese craftsmanship with femininity and audacity. Each garment takes inspiration from a personal story, like memories of childhood or travel. In 2017, she won the first edition of the Fashion Prize Of Tokyo. In 2020, the brand collaborated with Tod's for the Italian brand’s T Factory series.







Anrealage
Born in Tokyo in 1980, designer Kunihiko Morinaga started making clothes in Vantan Design Academy while he was still in Waseda University and launched his brand Anrealage in 2003. In 2005, Anrealage won the Design Vision Award For Avant-Garde at Gen Art competition for new designer in New York; in 2011, it won the 29th Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix for the best new designer in Tokyo; and in 2014, the brand began showing at Paris Fashion Week. He also was one of eight finalists for the 2019 LVMH Prize. Working with the mantra, "God is in the details," his designs are characterized for their brightly colored, attention to detail, patchwork, creative shapes, and pieces that combine technology and innovative techniques.







beautiful people
Designer Hidenori Kumakiri was born in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture. After studying studied fashion technology at Bunka Fashion College, he worked as a patterner at Comme des Garçons Homme. In 2004, he founded entertainment Ltd., an outsourcing pattern company. He launched the brand “beautiful people” in 2007. In November 2020, he was awarded the ‘38th Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix’. In 2018 he staged its first Paris catwalk presenting the FW 2018-19 collection. Based on the Japanese know-how, Beautiful People focuses on craftsmanship and higher-quality fabrics, creating conventional pieces with innovative elements.







Sheltersuit
Designer Bas Timmer launched Sheltersuit in the native Netherlands, after watching the father of a friend die of hypothermia on the street. The Sheltersuit is a wind and waterproof coat that can be transformed into a sleeping bag made It is made from high-quality materials to ensure extreme durability. All of the materials are upcycled, donated by textiles companies to contribute to the reduction of waste streams and stimulate environmental awareness. Since starting in 2014 his non-profit company, which produces Sheltersuit free of charge to homeless people and refugees, Bas helped more than 6,000 people living on the streets or in refugee camps thanks to his Sheltersuit.
