The organizers of Pitti Immagine unveiled the theme of the winter 2023 shows, called "Pittiway", which reflects the desire to restart in a moment of great uncertainty. "Pittiway underlines the many possible choices we must consider in order to exit from the complicated global gridlock," said Agostino Poletto, general director of Pitti Immagine. "In this moment that is difficult, yet also creative, innovative, and diverse, the Pitti Immagine shows will be a compass for defining new directions, conceiving possible pathways, and considering the possible choices to then restart. At the Fortezza, there will be routes, turn signals, curves, and U-turns for cruising at fast speeds. A sometimes-contradictory pathway that demonstrates an inexhaustible energy: the same that leads towards the new directions, which are all still possible, of the future."

The next edition of Pitti Uomo is scheduled to run from Jan. 10 to 13, 2023, while Pitti Bimbo and Pitti Filati, the fair trades dedicated to childrenswear and yarn makers, will be held from Jan. 18 to 20 and Jan. 25 to 27, 2023 respectively.

The new theme is the result of a joint effort between creative talents and artists of the highest level, coordinated by creative director Angelo Figus. Pittiway will transform the Fortezza da Basso into a jungle of visual information, between interactive kiosks, and led strips and lighting that light up the evening hours. A playful multitude of signs that take their cue from the language of traffic signs and reinterpret them with pop and original graphics.

The menswear fair’s campaign is represented through a video directed by Leonardo Corallini, with dancer and model Giampaolo Gobbi, who expresses himself in a performance that is halfway between choreography and a photoshoot, wearing four perfectly identical outfits, featuring four different colors dyed by Maurizio Brocchetto, one of the leading experts in the field of customization.

"Creating this theme was a reflection on the unusual moment we are all experiencing, also in fashion," said Figus. "I am interested in the human pathway, and in the wardrobe that discloses its profound connection with this historic moment. Even deciding how to dress means deciding upon a direction." The full agenda of the winter edition of Pitti Uomo will be unveiled during the press conference scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022 in Milan.
