The Pitti Filati textile trade show returns to the Fortezza da Basso from July 1 to 3, 2025, presenting the collections of the most important Italian and international yarn manufacturers. The trends of tomorrow will be presented in the new Spazio Ricerca along with the new proposals in the Knitclub and CustomEasy, a project curated by Maurizio Brocchetto, and the Institutional areas. A total of 130 companies, of which 25 come from abroad, will showcase all the yarn trends for autumn/winter 2026-27 at the fair, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ICE – Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies.

On the occasion of Pitti Filati 97, the theme Pitti Bikes takes on a special meaning and becomes Wheel of Yarns. The rhythm of the bicycle serves as a metaphor for a sector that is constantly in motion, with dynamism, flexibility, and versatility as its core values. In particular, the theme highlights a sense of duality, a pace that blends innovation with archival inspiration, comfort with sophistication, creativity with classic style, and technology with sustainability. It speaks to the needs of knitwear manufacturers, but also extends beyond. Michele de Andreis’s image captures a vivid, colorful ride, a sense of movement reflected in patterns made of LED light threads, symbolizing the pursuit of clean energy. Threads, colors, and materials come together in ever-changing, evocative effects, each time unique.

In D-tale, the theme of the new Spazio Ricerca, which develops and shapes the trends curated by Angelo Figus, with Carrie Hollands (knit and yarn direction) and Manuela Sandroni (general coordination), the new season will mark a return to the culture of dress and wardrobe. D-tale therefore represents a journey into the details of the history of fashion divided into three themes: Bluniform, the theme of uniforms and blue; Exoticall, the theme of nature in a naïve key; Caffè de la Paix, the theme that explores the atmospheres of Ottoman culture in a luxurious and contemporary key. The Spazio Ricerca will present 72 mannequins created in collaboration with the spinning mills participating in the show, in an immersive installation of abstract outfits finely characterized by details from past and future eras.

The final event of the CFMI academy will take place on the opening day of Pitti Immagine Filati 97, showcasing the results of the program that brought together students from Italy’s top fashion academies, aiming to foster entrepreneurial ideas and support the rise of a new generation of creatives. The Ceremony Award will take place at the Sala della Scherma, UniCredit Theatre. The rendezvous with Vintage Selection returns: the research laboratory dedicated to vintage culture. D-Tale, is the theme of this edition, inspired by that of the Pitti Immagine winter fairs, and will be applied to the layout elements of the fair. The event will be reserved for Pitti Filati buyers. In the Ghiaia Pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso, over all three days of the fair.

The Feel The Yarn competition} returns for its sixteenth year, choosing "Wishlist" as its theme. This edition introduces new voting procedures and timing, and once again promotes collaboration between designers from international knitwear schools and the yarn mills that are members of the Consorzio Promozione Filati – CPF. 35 students have been selected by Ornella Bignami, the long-standing patron of the competition, to take part in this year’s contest. Accordingly, 35 yarn manufacturers, all members of the CPF, have joined the project in partnership with the participants. For the first time, online voting on the official website feeltheyarn.it will take place at the same time as voting by visitors to the trade fair. All the contestants' outfits will be showcased during Pitti Filati, with the aim of highlighting and celebrating each designer's individual talents. The awards ceremony for this edition will be held on Wednesday, 2nd July at 5 pm in the Cavedio del Piano Inferiore / Pavilion Centrale.
