This exhibition presents over a dozen seminal works from the Guggenheim’s collection alongside major loans from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, highlighting the artist’s radical approach to materials and media. Celebrating Rauschenberg’s 100th birthday, the show forms part of a global tribute to his boundary-pushing creativity, experimental spirit, and enduring impact on contemporary art.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is Barge (1962–63), a monumental 32-foot-long silkscreen painting created predominantly over a 24-hour period. The largest in a series of approximately 80 Silkscreen Paintings produced between 1962 and 1964, Barge returns to New York for the first time in nearly 25 years.
