Tate St Ives presents the first UK museum exhibition of Aleksandra Kasuba’s work.
Kasuba fled Lithuania after the Second World War, eventually settling in the United States, first in New York and later in New Mexico.
The exhibition spans six decades, tracing Kasuba’s artistic journey from her early paintings and mosaics to her later sculptures and architectural designs. Her deep connection to the natural world is evident throughout, with many works inspired by organic forms such as shells, rocks, vegetation, and marine life.
Driven by a desire to strengthen the bond between humanity and nature, Kasuba also imagined alternative ways of living and thinking. She explored these ideas through collaboration with the pioneering collective Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.), which brought together artists, engineers, and scientists throughout the 1960s to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
