Milan Design Weeks

The Faculty of Design and Art of the Free University of Bolzano presents an exhibition of 13 projects made by its students.
Its experimental and innovative approach characterizes the Faculty of Design which combines, connects and plays with different materials such as marble, glass, wood, etc.

The exhibition – organized and supervised by Professors Claudio Larcher, Steffen Kaz and Simone Simonelli – is made up of projects of the students which were realized during the Bachelor in Design and Art.

Design at the ECOLE NATIONALE SUPÉRIEURE DES ARTS DÉCORATIFS ( ENSAD Paris) in Milan.
In partnership with Designer’s Days 2012. Supported by the Institut français Milano and in collaboration with Tarkett.

This exhibition sets out to illustrate, through a selection of works by students and recent graduates, the investigations of young designers on the future of design and contemporary creation. The pieces on display were selected from the four design disciplines taught at the School: Product Design, Fashion Design, Textile and Texture Design, and Multimedia/Graphic Design.
This exhibition will provide an opportunity to discover the strength, creativity and sensitivity of a new generation of designers and artists who engage with the issues of their time. "FOR TOMORROW" exhibits many aspects of the conceptual, artistic and professional innovations of the School’s creative output.

- FLOWERED CARPET, mixing spring colours and garden’s flavours, anticipating the newest creative tendencies,the “Green Carpet” will be located at the main hall of Garibaldi Train Station in Milan and will be designed in collaboration with RE.RURBAN
(The installation is brought by Digital Working and Kartel System).

- ECO-BOX Vegetable Gardens with herbs (brought by the I Giardini dell’Eden in Milano), designed by the students of the University Politecnico in Milan, created as eco-boxes with recycled wooden material from local vegetable markets.

PREMSELA, the Netherlands Institute for Design and Fashion, presents:
- Spring: Excellence, Talent and Inspiration in Design, - Collective exhibition curated by Miriam van der Lubbe.

The event brought together three generations: who learned from whom and who is the source of inspiration behind today’s designers. The exhibition, opened by Princess Maxima and featuring work by, among others, Maarten Baas, Richard Hutten and Studio Makkink & Bey, as well as lesser known names like Corien Pompe (Volvo Product design), Marjolijn van Puffelen (brand designer for Nike) and Stefano Marzano (former head of Philips Design), will be travelling to Moscow, but only after first being shown at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

"TADAO ANDO ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION", a selection of museum projects

An exhibition dedicated to Tadao Ando’s last ten museum projects will be held at the Duvetica Store and Showroom in Milan. The projects, realised between Europe and Japan over a period stretching from the mid-1990s until 2010, will be presented through a large selection of drawings, models, videos and photos.

The exhibition will have a section dedicated to Europe, which will include the Stone Sculpture Museum in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, three projects executed in the Chateau La Coste in Aix-en-Provence, France, as well as the projects Ando carried out in Italy – more specifically, in Venice – for the Palazzo Grassi, Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi and the Punta della Dogana Contemporary Art Centre. The exhibition also features the projects Ando undertook in Naoshima, Japan – Benesse House Museum/Oval, Lee Ufan Museum and Chichu Art Museum – and the Abu Dhabi Maritime Museum he designed in the United Arab Emirates.
