During the four days of the 080 Barcelona Fashion FW2013/14 that will take place from to, a exhibition will celebrate the close relationship between the city and Jeanne Lanvin (1867-1946), creator of the House of Fashion and brand of the same name.

The young Jeanne (then a young woman of 18 years of age) learnt there the work of fashion embroiderer, living for three years at the house of Mrs. Maria-Berta Montage de Valentí, a wellknown clothes-maker considered as pioneers within haute-couture in the “modernist” era in Catalonia. Once returned in Paris, Jeanne founded a small workshop which became after few years the great firm LANVIN.

Later on, in 1915, a niece of Maria-Berta took over official representation of the haute-couture brand of LANVIN for Barcelona and Spain.
