"Evolution of the Archaic" Countdown of design /Ukrainian design, craft, fashion and vintage items/ The "elementary particles", the fundamental elements of design, circle, square, triangle, cross, spiral - are where this powerful connection between all human cultures lies. Modern creators' use of primitive forms and materials - clay, wood, metal, wool, glass, stone - is an adventure in time and imagination. Forms and materials, crossing the boundaries of eras and cultures, remind us of our common roots and our universal heritage. We demonstrate through young Ukrainian design and craftsmanship, inspired by our own cultural code, how the archaic becomes an impetus for evolution, a source of inspiration, forming a new, unique and relevant matter.

An homage to Bali’s vibrant spirituality and mystique, the “Niskala: Forms of the Unseen'' collection was created by French designer Pierre Charrié as output of the 2023 Artist Designer In Residence (ADIR) program initiated by CushCush Gallery in Bali. Niskala takes us on a journey to a mysterious world where mythical creatures seem to incarnate into beautifully handcrafted objects and furniture of collectible design. Conceived as a triptyque in which each object highlights a different Balinese know-how and local material, the collection unfolds like a story in three chapters, introducing different characters. In a vibrant play of contrasts, the collection showcases the versatility of Balinese craftsmanship through the prism of contemporary design.

Delcourt Collection - Piece by Piece It is within manufacturing ateliers that Christophe Delcourt learned the publishing craft. There, he built himself and learned the gesture, the material, the know-how and the very demanding commitment making high-quality furniture requires. Each piece bearing the Delcourt Collection stamp first stands as the affirmation of the prolongation between the designer’s hand and the one of the craftsman: a French excellency which favors discretion over ostentatious effects, but has none the less become a true signature.

Paul Cocksedge's "Squeeze," supported by Deknudt Mirrors at Hôtel de Sully, delves into light and reflectivity. Fascinated by creating reflective surfaces, Cocksedge describes it as alchemy-mixing liquids and coatings to form a mirror. With "Squeeze," Cocksedge began with soft, compressible forms, shaping them with his hands, creating compositions, which were then reinterpreted into 2D flatworks, creating a dialogue between the tangible soft forms and their flat counterparts. As visitors move from the indoor space to the garden, they encounter a mirrored sculpture reflecting the sky and architecture. This outdoor piece invites viewers to see themselves within the vibrant Parisian landscape, fostering introspection and celebrating creativity.

Xavier Veilhan's Superflou exhibition at the Galerie de Sèvres is the culmination of half a decade's work between the artist and the Manufacture de Sèvres. Brought out of the kilns, the Monuments figures, seven table centrepieces in wood and bisque, and Manfredi, a sculpture in ronde-bosse in five different shades of stoneware, investigate what the artist has loved for many years: indefiniteness. Primarily that of the image, the blurring of form and the boundary between art and the decorative arts.
