The Fondation d’entreprise Hermès new Académie des savoir-faire ( Skills Academy) will gather a group of artisans, designers and engineeronce every two years, for a nine-month programme exploring innovation in artisan skills, in a wide range of fields. The first Academy, in 2014, will focus on the world of wood, directed by guest designer Patrick Jouin.

Hermès, aims to promote ground-breaking skills and innovation for tomorrow’s world. Participants will develop their knowledge and expertise through lectures and master-classes conducted by leading experts, followed by an experimental workshop designed to refine and explore innovative new skills. The Academy’s teaching will focus on traditional artisanship, and groundbreaking new techniques. Each year a guest designer – beginning with Patrick Jouin in 2014 – will help devise the lecture programme, and lead the workshop.
