Mariko Mori will revisit Giacomo Puccini’s "Japanese" opera, Madame Butterfly, at the Fenice during Venice Biennale, from June 21 to June 30, 2013.

This production marks the beginning of a partnership between La Fenice and the Art Biennale.

Sets and costumes will be designed by Mariko Mori, a contemporary Japanese artist, author of installations that were inspired by the intersection of ancient Japanese cultural traditions and the most sophisticated contemporary media.

Mariko Mori will carry on the stage of the Italian theater a retro-futuristic universe made of phosphorescent dolmens, drop cybernetics and monumental water.

Made possible through the financial support of the Association, The Circolo La Fenice this collaboration is the first step in a relationship between Italian theater and contemporary art.
