Modem presents two design exhibitions during D'Days

This year, for the first time, Modem presents two innovative exhibitions within D'Days festival in Paris:C'est mon Dada(Dum) and "Mobiles en Bande Organisée

Espace Modem #1 - basement

"C'est mon Dada (Dum) nouvelle compagnie et éditions limitées pour une exploitation maximum des idées" with new Swiss brand DADADUM and furniture pieces by Jörg Boner, Alfredo Häberli, and Nicolas Lemoinge.

and

Dada Fétiche, a collection of «multiples»:
In 1921 Marcel Duchamp wrote a letter from New York to his friend Tristan Tzara suggesting the DADA Fétiche project. Duchamps' idea was to release 4 steel letters - D A D A - worn as a necklace, tie pin or bracelet etc..

The act of wearing the badge "made" the wearer DADA. Furthermore the badge DADA would have protected him from the diseases and the numerous problems of life: "Do you have a toothache? Ask to your dentist if he is Dada", "Have you run out of arguments? Dada is the best answer to all questions". Shortly, the badge should have been presented and worked as a fetish.

The Galerie de Multiples asked artists of different generations and nationalities to «respond» to the publication' suggestion made by Marcel Duchamp realising a fetish. The first edition of DADA Fétiche (showcased since October 2012) featured artists: François CurletClaude CloskyOlivier MossetJonathan Monk. The second edition of DADA Fétiche features artists Hans SchabusSaâdane AfifFranck Scurti. (GDM éditions)

Espace #2 - 2nd Floor

Mobiles, en bande organisée
Playful and technical experimentations on the contrast of forms and materials, the 12 mobiles develop the concept of balance, lighness and movement, far from the functional standards of product design. Challenging the boundaries between art and applied art, the exhibition presents objects that trascend the categories of mere artifacts. They are like small architectures floating in the space, like some kind of air machines...

Abstract or figurative this non-functional machines open up to an infinite range of playful possibilities subtly referring to the work of Bruno Munari and Alexander Calder

With the artists:
A+ACooren, François Azambourg, David Dubois, Antoine Boudin, Jean-Sebastien Poncet, Ionna Vautrin and Pool.
