Fashion Show - Friday February 26, 2016 at P.zza Duomo
The suggestive Sala delle Cariatidi in Palazzo Reale was the setting of Atsushi Nakashima’s first fashion show in Milano. After graduated from Nagoya Fashion College, the Japanese designer won the 20th Onward Fashion Grand Prix in 2003. He moved to Paris scouted by Jean Paul Gaultier to work as his assistant and launched his own brand in Tokyo in 2011. He also won the third DHL Exported contest; the project conceived by IMG Fashion and DHL to support young fashion talents, then he became the creative director of Jil Sander Navy accessories.
Nakashima bought on the catwalk for the first time at Milan Fashion Week his conceptual vision, celebrating traditional culture with modern elements. The classic silhouettes are enveloped by a contemporary allure, alternating the rigorous elegance of short-sleeved patent leather trench coats with skirts, mini-dresses, relaxed robe coats and knitwear in an eccentric colour palette of yellow, electric blue and orange. Among structured fabrics with geometric shapes, soft drapes, various textures pieced together, mathematical patterns are printed digitally on silk fabrics. While high heel sandals and spherical-shaped bracelets made with a 3D printer caught the attention.
A successful Italian baptism. Nakashima created a wardrobe with both technical and creative factors thanks to a complex professional philosophy. For a collection which touched different moods and with a futuristic attitude.
