From 17 to 19 December, Porto will host the most promising young fashion and footwear designers, the most important European fashion schools including ESMOD PARIS, AMD - Akademie Mode&Design, POLIMODA, ESAD, FA.ULISBOA, MODATEX PORTO, IED MADRID, ARSUTORIA SCHOOL, ACADEMIA DE DESIGN E CALÇADO and LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION, specialised press, internationally recognised industry representatives and many other players, who complement and enrich this creative industry, to celebrate the future of global fashion.

This year, MODAPORTUGAL will organise a fashion design competition and an industry tour. On 17 and 18 December, 29 young designers from 6 countries will visit some of the most innovative companies in Portugal in the textile, clothing and footwear sectors. This unique experience will bring them into contact with the industry and introduce them to the production partners of the future.

On December 19th, these 29 young designers will present their looks and footwear prototypes to a specialized international panel of judges made up of Adriano Batista (Fucking Young) , Gemma Williams (BoF) , Jessica Michault (Launch Metrics) , Livio Facchini (Public Image PR) , Miguel Flor (Designer and Consultant) , Svenja Specht (Head Designer Reality Studio) and presided over by Eduarda Abbondanza (President of Associação ModaLisboa) . The winners will be announced during a gala dinner, when MODAPORTUGAL is also celebrating the Portuguese industry achievements in 2018, by honouring some companies with out-standing performances, the PRÉMIOS DE EXCELÊNCIA MODAPORTUGAL 2018 (BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2018).

MODAPORTUGAL is an initiative by CENIT – Centro de Inteligência Têxtil (Textile Intelligence Centre) and ANIVEC, in partnership with APICCAPS and MODALISBOA, with the goal of bringing two essential areas in the fashion industry – design and production – closer together.
