Launched in 2015 by the H&M Foundation, this "Nobel Prize for Fashion" aims to reduce the industry's impact on the environment. To do this, it promotes innovative projects to enable them to move from idea to realization. Their objective is to accelerate the research process, while taking into account sustainable development in the fashion industry. The accomplishment of all these projects would be to achieve the fashion industry's transition to a circular economy.

Karl-Johan Persson a board member of the H&M Foundation says, « The award-winning innovations will help our industry reinvent itself and hopefully inspire others to find new solutions as well »

Nearly 5900 projects were submitted from 175 countries. For this fifth edition, the jury makes a point of honour of the search for innovations that will enable consumers to act in a sustainable way.
Other key criteria are the economic viability of the idea, the use of data and technology, and the commitment of the team.

The Global Change Award is primarily intended to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs to enter the competition. Winning projects are launched on the market. Which is a good way for them to transform the fashion industry.
