The COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing and inevitably forces a change of habits, which however could also reveal interesting aspects, such as the digitization for major events. In this sense, the British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced that the 2020 Fashion Awards will adopt the virtual format, providing a web platform that will reach every user all over the world.

The BFC Press declared that all the designers, brands, creatives, and individuals who had an impact in the fashion industry during this difficult year, addressing humanitarian and sustainable issues or adapting to local needs will be the main characters of the 2020 ceremony that will reward them.

Stephanie Phair, president of BFC, said: “This has been a year like no other. Fashion has probably changed forever and companies and designers have had to adapt to a new reality. It is more important than ever to recognize those in the fashion industry who have played an important role in this remarkable year, demonstrating the compassion and resilience of our industry. This is what the 2020 Fashion Awards set out to do, highlighting those who have demonstrated leadership and creative resilience over the past year. "

The Fashion Award 2020, therefore, intends to reward courage, a keyword that is far from obvious, in these long months of great physical and psychological difficulties, on a large scale. The 20 brands or designers selected will be presented and awarded in a short film that will document how the fashion industry has reacted in such a delicate situation as this 2020 in progress.

For Caroline Rush, CEO of BFC, the fashion system has needed a mind setting refresh and it is more than right to consider who has raised the bar in terms of sustainability and the ethical value of circularity.

For its third consecutive year will also be held the "New Wave: Creatives", an initiative of the BFC dedicated to emerging talents, to keep an eye on brilliant young creatives. Swarovsky confirms, as for the previous editions, the well-established partnership.

As for the 2021 Fashion Awards, the show will take place on 29 November 2021, at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
With some anticipation, we know that next year's ceremony will be reinvented to reflect its "new mission and ambition to have technology and commitment at the center, looking at amplification innovations and new experiences".
