Fendi and the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation collaborate for an exhibition dedicated to the Italian sculptor's artworks. Fendi Roman headquarters Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana will host the exhibition curated by Lorenzo Respi e Andrea Viliani and titled "Arnaldo Pomodoro. The great theater of civilization" from May 12 to October 1, 2023 with free admission.

The collaboration between the Foundation and Fendi is an example of a strategic partnership in which the mission and vision of both parties find common expression in the celebration of art as a tool capable of uniting respect for historical heritage, attention to the diffusion and dissemination of artistic languages, and the search for new forms of collaboration in terms of sustainability and innovation.

Conceived specifically for the headquarters of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome, the exhibition Arnaldo Pomodoro. Il Grande Teatro delle Civiltà is articulated as a large “theatre” that is simultaneously real and mental, memorial and imaginative. The exhibition presents a selection of works from the end of the 1950s to the present, as well as documentary materials, mostly unpublished, aimed at exploring in particular the pervasive relationship in the artist’s biography between the areas of action relating to the visual arts and to the performing arts. Indeed, it is here that the evanescent traces of possible archaic, ancient, modern, or even just fantastic “civilizations” emerge. In their intertwining they give us back an inexhaustible archeology and a continuous re-foundation of our knowledge, our imaginations, our conception of time and space, history and myth, and our relationship with other species and nature.

In the exhibition – curated by Lorenzo Respi and Andrea Viliani in collaboration with the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro – reality and utopia, sign and archetype, matter and vision, three-dimensionality of the work and two-dimensionality of the document, sharing in public space and personal research conducted in the studio and in the archive are integrated into an inseparable continuum, in which the inside and outside of the building also merge, from its angular boundaries to the roof.

This new collaboration strengthens the bond between the luxury fashion house and the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, which dates to 2013, when Fendi choses the former exhibition spaces of the Foundation on Via Solari in Milan, as its new milanese office.
