Boosted by the success of its previous editions, Art Paris returns returns to Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris with a wide selections of exhibitors, from March 30 to April 2, 2023. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the fair dedicated to galleries and collectors, explores the world of modern and contemporary art. The fair's list of participating exhibitors includes 134 galleries from 25 different countries, an 43 new names. 60% of the exhibitors are domestic galleries and 40% internationally based. This deliberate choice enables the fair to showcase the wealth of the French gallery ecosystem that includes leading modern and contemporary art galleries and galleries based in towns all over France, while providing support to emerging structures with “Promises”, the sector for young galleries.

Founded in 1999, Art Paris is organized by France Conventions, a French family-run business. Thanks to the efforts of Julien Lecêtre and Valentine Lecêtre, directors of France Conventions, and its general commissioner, Guillaume Piens, Art Paris has become a leading spring arts event, an innovative art fair that fosters discovery, setting out to explore in depth the world of modern and contemporary art. Art Paris showcases many international artists as well as highlights the French contemporary art scene.

In the last several years, the fair has put the spotlight on many countries, including Russia (2013), China (2014), Singapore and Southeast Asia (2015), Korea (2016), Africa (2017), Switzerland (2018), Latin America (2019), and the Iberian Peninsula (2020), but also supporting the French art scene. Since 2018, the fair has focused on specific projects by French artists from the participating galleries, with a specific theme selected by the exhibition curator. In 2018, François Piron decided to highlight the work of historically overlooked artists, while in 2019, the focus shifted to female artists, curated by Camille Morineau. Last year, the fair explored natural histories in a selection by Alfred Pacquement.

The themes of this year are "Art & Commitment" and "Exile: Dispossession and Resistances".
Art & Commitment is curated by Marc Donnadieu and comprises 20 artists from different generations exhibited in the galleries. The selection includes artists who express commitment to their art, the world, its history, or what is happening today. The second theme, Exile: Dispossession and Resistance, is curated by the founder and curator of the Beirut-based TAP (Temporary Art Platform), Amanda Abi Khalil. Her selection of 18 international artists addresses questions related to exile.
Besides these two selections, the fair will also feature sixteen solo shows spread throughout the fair, and around ten galleries have opted to put on duo shows that establish a dialogue between artists of the past, or between different generations.

Art Paris was the world’s first post-lockdown “physical” art fair in September 2020 and the first event to inaugurate the Temporary Grand Palais on the Champ-de-Mars. In April 2022, it was also the first world art fair to adapt a sustainable approach to its organization and to explore themes in tune with contemporary society such as exile, commitment, and the environment. These strong convictions and commitments mean that Art Paris is one of the most original art fairs in the world.
