MoscaPartners, the studio founded by Caterina Mosca and Valerio Castelli, shows in three different locations across the city of Milan three exhibitions that explore different perspectives on design and address the theme of how design could improve the future. The site-specific installation on the façade of the Circolo Filologico Milanese, designed by studio Zaven, makes you literally want to take a breath “towards the future”. Palazzo Visconti offers an itinerary to discover the use of natural and durable materials in the world of design, in addition to the anthological exhibition of projects from Michele De Lucchi’s and Andrea Branzi’s course at the Milan Polytechnic. A set up inside the Istituto Marchiondi Spagliardi, a brutalist masterpiece by architect Vittoriano Viganò that for the first time will be opened to the public of international design and architecture.

The Istituto Marchiondi Spagliardi, built in the 1950s in Baggio and long used as a juvenile reform school, is a rare example of Italian Brutalist architecture designed by the architect Vittoriano Viganò. With this event the building, that was closed in the 1970s and soon fell into a state of abandonment, will once again be accessible to the international architecture and design public thanks to the collaboration between MoscaPartners and Milan City Coucil. Reforming Future, strongly desired by Valerio Castelli, showcases the projects created during the master’s course led by Michele De Lucchi and Andrea Branzi at the Politecnico di Milano School of Design. The exhibition focuses on the explorative nature of the course led by the two architects in collaboration with Francesca Balena Arista, Marco De Santi, and Mario Greco, which over the years has tackled important anthropological themes.

The appointment of Design Variations at Circolo Filologico comes back with Breath, the site-specific work on the façade designed by studio Zaven, a Venice-based design studio founded in 2008 by Enrica Cavarzan and Marco Zavagno. The work is made using a special silicone membrane, which with two modules of 6 meters x 6 meters uses the vacuum technique to bring out abstract signs from the surface.
