One Second of Silence explores light as the precondition for the visual. The works in the exhibition capture and transform the ubiquitous light as experienced in the slow changes of daylight and the imperceptible distortion of space by reflections. The exhibition combines works from the museum's collection with loans and new productions.

Skjødt Hasselstrøm and Encor Studio have each created two site-specific installations. Skjødt Hasselstrøm is inspired by the physics of glass and its changing nature from liquid to solid scientific physics, while Encor Studio creates constantly changing lighting conditions in the modern wing of the museum using electrochromic liquid crystal films mounted directly on the museum windows.

The exhibition also features sculptures by Australian Jessica Loughlin and Danish Christina Augustesen, both masters of capturing the materiality of light. The sculptures enter into a dialog with Anette Harboe Flensburg's painting, which uses a completely different medium to depict light and show the artistic potential of glass.

From the collection, the exhibition includes modernist sculptures by Czech Jaroslava Brychtová & Stanislav Libenský, Jaroslav Svoboda from Slovakia, Danish Tora Urup and Torben Jørgensen, and a luminescent chandelier created by Japanese Rui Sasaki inspired by the changeable weather conditions in her hometown.
