The woman
Prune Goldschmidt is not an ordinary dreamer. Her family history is rooted in theindustrial textile élite of Northern France, where she learned the values of sharingand celebrating.
With help from her godmother, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts, she ran up a pair ofhomemade culottes that she wore with Peter Pan-collared shirts.

She also cuttrousers from upholstery fabrics with oversized floral motifs. (So what if peoplethought she wore pajamas to school?) Convention was never her thing. As an adult, she learned all about the business from Sonia and Nathalie Rykiel, yetshe decided to put her fashion dreams on hold and focus on raising her fourchildren. Over the years, as they grew, her creative drive returned; she felt thatsomething was missing. Prune Goldschmidt designed a collection of one-of-a-kindcouture jewelry, inspired statement pieces that were more akin to a plastron or amantlet than a necklace, breaking with codes that were too well-mannered anddemure for her taste. Following a second marriage and a new baby, her fifth child,she circled back to her textile heritage and established a brand in her own name. Itwas a way of reconnecting with her own story - one that is strong, altruistic andgenerous, not to mention intrepid and daring. Her designs express the quintessenceof her personality as a woman who reconciles romance and passion, freedom andself-confidence; who embraces life with integrity and a healthy dose of playfulirreverence, with clothes that enhance pride and beauty, character and confidence.
