Budapest Select, the brand that brings together the very finest of Hungarian design under one umbrella presents a major exhibition project commissioned by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency and curated by the talented young designer Gáspár Bonta. The exhibition sets out to provide a cross-section of contemporary design in Hungary, a country that is increasingly coming to the fore among the most interesting on the international creative scene.

Thirty-seven designers whose collections tell stories from afar, in which tradition plays a key role in the production process, one characterised by significant traces of craftsmanship, contamination with art and a marked sense of belonging to both a territory and a community. The exhibition path is split into six conceptual chapters: Earth, Wind, Fire, Tale, Writing and Abstraction.

Marsèll and Pin–Up Magazine joined forces to present Cfgny: Emporium, an exhibition by the New York based art collective CFGNY.

Curated by Pin–Up Magazine editorial and creative director Felix Burrichter, Cfgny:: Emporium acts as a survey show, combining aspects of previous Cfgny: exhibitions and remixing them into a new multi-level experience. Ranging from garments and design objects to architectural installations, ceramic sculpture, and video, the exhibition “showcases many of the different material languages that we have developed over the years,” explain the four members of Cfgny.

The artists describe their work as “vaguely Asian,” a reference to the feeling of “shared alienation” that comes with being Asian in America. Cfgny: Emporium will extend over three floors and will include several new artworks specially commissioned for the exhibition.

A multidisciplinary project organised by students to raise awareness of the issues of urban renewal and regeneration, as well as to reflect on the changing urban landscape and the historical memory of places.

Ecocentrico is an informative space intended to host visual, sound and material labs and workshops run by the students: a large geodesic yurt hosts visual installations, the contents of which may be photographic, audio, video and multimedia, while a second yurt is built over the course of the week during workshops open to the public. Furthermore a small exhibition is hosted, the result of the “Studi visuali urbani” (Urban Visual Studies) workshop that the selected students will attending during the months leading up to Milan Design Week. The result of their experiences during the workshops and laboratories is an invitation to reflect on the changing urban landscape and the historical memory of places. I

NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti takes part in the event created by Alcova, within the Ex Macello di Porta Vittoria Area with the exhibition “L’Allievo. A dialogue between generations of Naba designers”.

The exhibition displays the human and design relations established between students and lecturers within the Academy, in a continuous sequence of multidisciplinary experiences generating research and projects: learning by thinking, learning by doing and teaching by learning. An exchange between individuals that is the foundation of learning. A collective gaze over the today’s world of design, born from the dialogue between the iconic products of some of the leading figures in the world of contemporary design, all lecturers at Naba, and the design outputs of the students and alumni of the Academy’s Design Area, through the different project phases.
