MoscaPartners Variations is the exhibition organized by MoscaPartners, founded by Caterina Mosca and Valerio Castelli in 2011, which returns to Palazzo Litta during Milano Design Week 2025. This year's theme, Migrations, explores design as a catalyst for cultural exchange and creative innovation. Bringing together international architects, designers and artists, the exhibition transcends geographical boundaries, fostering dialogue between diverse perspectives. By showcasing new approaches to contemporary design, it transforms the historic venue into a dynamic space for experimentation and discovery. Through research-driven projects and site-specific installations, MoscaPartners continues its commitment to promoting visionary talents and new creative languages. A new vision will also be brought to the Main Courtyard: MoscaPartners has entrusted the Korean architect Byoung Soo Cho – in his first site-specific installation in Italy – with the installation Nobody Owns the Land: Earth, Forest, Mahk within the space. This edition of MoscaPartners Variations reaffirms design as a powerful medium for connection, transformation, and future-oriented thinking.

A room full of light, a light box for sorting and viewing pictures. The fact that the Erco light factory uses a ‘white cube’ as a ‘light box’ demonstrates how light can transform, even transcend, a very simple architectural space: This is always an intense experience, but of course no surprise. It is the core competence. However, not everyone knows that Erco also has an archive of thousands of photos that document unique insights into the world of light and architecture over the course of decades. And yet the approach to architectural and lighting photography is such a characteristic facet of the ERCO brand that we would like to focus on it in a cabinet exhibition at the Triennale Museum as part of Fuorisalone 2025.
Since the mid-1970s, under the influence of designer Otl Aicher (1922-1991), Erco has developed a distinct curatorial expertise in photography. The "light box" was always used as a working tool.
Initially analogue, as a backlit table on which the motifs for catalogues, customer magazines or advertisements were selected from hundreds of slides, today as a digital and on-screen metaphor for digital media and production processes. High-profile contemporary photographers and the company as client met as equals. Through this dialogue, an independent, brand-typical visual language emerged.
The "Erco Light Box" exhibition shows selected motifs from four decades of ERCO photography in a room transformed by light. It thus provides a unique view on projects, processes and protagonists in architecture and lighting design - and at the same time lets visitors experience light as an immaterial design medium.

Lebanese architect and designer Richard Yasmine presents a collection of art de la table items, including vases, containers, and bowls with sculptural lines, made of marble by artisans. The design studio Giopato & Coombes unveils Scarabei, an unprecedented project that explores the metamorphosis of matter through light. Inspired by the natural world and its organic forms, Scarabei is a profound investigation into the invisible golden rules that guide the spontaneous growth of living organisms. The collection comes to life from a concept of natural propagation, where repetition meets freedom, diversity merges with uniqueness, giving shape to luminous bodies that expand into space like living elements.
Through the ancient technique of sand casting, each element of the compositions is shaped in aluminum castings on earth molds, creating unique, textured surfaces that echo the raw irregularities of matter and its natural textures. The concave domes composing each lamp vary in size and density, evoking the idea of an ecosystem in constant evolution.
The installation will be a sensory experience that establishes a dialogue between matter, light, and space. The luminous forms of the collection will unfold in a fluid composition, where each piece behaves like a living organism, capable of transforming and interacting with its surroundings. Light will create plays of shadows and reflections that amplify the tactile perception of the material.
