Saint Laurent brings to light four pieces designed by Charlotte Perriand between 1943 and 1967, which never went into production or remained as prototypes, selected by creative director Anthony Vaccarello. Among them are a five-seat sofa designed for the Paris residence of the Japanese Ambassador, featuring a seven-meter-long curved wooden base, and the Table Mille-Feuilles, made of ten layers of two different woods stacked like a millefeuille cake, which until now had only existed as a maquette on the designer’s desk.

Lexus envisions a future where technology predicts and continually evolves the potential value of individual experiences through vehicles. To express this vision of limitless possibilities, they present an installation inspired by Lexus’s new cockpit design, the “Black Butterfly,” alongside works by three visionary creators.

The installation “A-Un” draws from the Japanese concept of “A-Un no Kokyu,” where human connections achieve perfect synchronicity. This theme explores the relationship between software and humans, alongside the future of mobility. Within a vast space crafted from bamboo threads into the form of the Black Butterfly, visitors will experience a light installation that merges their heartbeat with real-time 1/f tremors sampled from nature. This year’s world debut success project “Discover Together” emphasizes “co-creation” with creators. Like “A-Un,” it features interactive works that reinterpret the “Black Butterfly” cockpit through the unique inspirations of Bascule Inc., Northeastern University, and the Lexus Vision Design team.

Base Milano is gearing up for Design Week 2025 with the fifth edition of We Will Design, a major platform dedicated to emerging design talents, featuring speculative installations and collaborative practices.

Projects by designers, performers, schools, universities, and international institutions will offer an innovative perspective on the theme Making Kin. Inspired by Donna Haraway’s philosophy, this concept explores new forms of kinship beyond speciesist and anthropocentric boundaries. The 2025 edition of We Will Design aims to go beyond traditional notions of family ties, exploring new forms of connection and care between humans, non-humans, and more-than-humans. It is an invitation to build alliances based on conscious choices, affinities, shared interests, and common sensitivities, transforming kinship into an act of creative resistance.

With We Will Design - Making Kin, Base reaffirms itself as a unique hub for experimentation and research, bringing the best in architectural and design innovation to Fuorisalone, thanks to collaborations with national and international universities and academies.

Facades is an exploration of the tension between chaos and order, a creative process where repetition becomes a tool for balance and reflection. Through recurring patterns, sharp lines, and solid colors, MaoSagao constructs a visual language that oscillates between precision and instability, control and uncertainty. His works evoke the contemporary urban landscape, characterized by modular surfaces and repetitive rhythms, while also revealing the fragility of seemingly solid structures.

MaoSagao’s painting technique is characterized by the use of masking with acrylics on canvas, a meticulous process that requires multiple layers and remarkable precision to achieve the desired effects. The artist transforms the act of painting into an exercise in mental release, where thesearch for visual order reflects the need to navigate a fragmented and overstimulating world.

Facades invites the viewer to decipher a precarious equilibrium, a space of tension between the urge to shape reality and the awareness that every construction is, ultimately, an illusion.

Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) announces the third edition of Hong Kong Interior Design Week 2025. This prestigious event will take place across Hong Kong and Italy, featuring a diverse range of activities, including exhibitions, exchange tour and design forums.

One of the highlight events is the “Urban Reflection” exhibition, a groundbreaking collaboration that brings together ten groups of renowned Hong Kong-based interior designers and furniture manufacturers to create unique interior design pieces. Some pieces integrate elements of traditional Chinese and oriental characteristics such as paper fans and bamboo. These works exemplify the perfect blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, showcasing cultural fusion and innovation. They are not only unique in form and function but also embody principles of sustainability, using materials such as recycled yarns and glass repurposed from Hong Kong’s iconic trams. These designs convey an awareness of environmental conservation and the value of resources, demonstrating the harmony between design and ecology.

Now in its third edition, Labò continues its research in collectible design and art within the former industrial spaces of Fondazione Rodolfo Ferrari and Spa - Società Prodotti Antibiotici, located in the Barona District on the outskirts of Milan.

The venue will host a fresh selection of international designers, artists, and companies, carefully curated by The Design Blender, the duo composed of Elsa Lemarignier and François Leblanc di Cicilia. Labò explores the role of design as a driving force of transformation and research, intertwining method and intuition, rigour and experimentation. The theme of the 2025 edition, “Crafting tomorrow, Rising ideas”, celebrates design’s ability to generate unexpected connections, offer new perspectives, and open up creative exploration.

This year’s vision is brought to life through a renewed collaboration with Paris-based studio Undo-Redo, led by Nicola Aguzzi, who translates the event’s concept into a site-specific installation at Labò. Designed in partnership with Vimar1991, an Italian company acquired by Chanel in 2020 as manufacturing excellence to be preserved and enhanced for the creation of the finest yarns used in the iconic tweeds, the installation, Perpetuum Mobile, reimagines textile machinery as a hypnotic artwork. By transforming the machines that wind yarn into hanks, the piece explores the fine line between industrial production and artistic expression.

With The Scale of Commitment, hosted at Superdesign Show, Materially offers an exclusive overview of materials and companies that stand out for their concrete and strategic commitment in light of the recent EU regulations on greenwashing and ecodesign. The project underscores the central role of sustainability indicators, an issue that Materially has supported and explored since its inception, establishing itself as a key facilitator between material producers, manufacturing companies, and designers.

Alongside sensory installations where visitors can physically interact with materials and explore their properties and performance, an interactive installation will provide deeper insights into technical data and information through immersive digital tools. Materially, together with the exhibiting companies, aims to convey complex concepts and processes related to sustainability measurement and performance in a simple, precise, and engaging way. Also, Through dedicated discussion panels, designers and professionals from the manufacturing industry will familiarize with and be inspired by the critical choices that material producers must navigate today.

The Scale of Commitment will also have a symbolic and symbiotic presence at Galleria Rossana Orlandi, a renowned venue that has long fostered a strong focus on sustainability in design. A dedicated exhibition space will showcase a selection of design products made from some of the materials presented at Superdesign Show.

All’Origine, the Italian specialist in European objects of the XX century, is present with a temporary shop and a site specific installation in collaboration with artist duo PetriPaselli. With their signature visual vocabulary the duo reflects on the passage of time over personal treasures and physical memories.

The visual merchandising of the shop, curated by Art Director Corina Jucan, is deeply entangled with the installation and integrates art pieces by PetriPaselli. Time is cyclical: objects fall out of fashion, of sight and of mind, only to come back as newly found treasures (for grandchildren rummaging in an attic and for collectors combing through flea markets alike). But the cycle is not broken. It is bound to start over again.

Ikea presents a new exhibition and one of its most iconic collections. Throughout the week, visitors will have the chance to enjoy interactive experiences, explore the principles of Democratic Design, and witness the world premiere of the new Stockholm 2025 collection. This series of products celebrates high-quality Scandinavian design, turning its items into true collector's pieces while maintaining an affordable price.

Also in the exhibition will be the area called ‘Do Something. Change Everything.’, which explores how small, everyday actions can create meaningful impact. The deep Ikea knowledge of life at home and sustainability will be at the forefront, as the brand highlights its ongoing work to inspire positive habits. The exhibition will showcase the concrete steps IKEA is taking to make sustainable products a reality and inspire lasting change to the way we live.

The Ikea presence at Milan Design Week will extend beyond via Vigevano 18, as the brand, for the second year in a row, will support The Glitch Camp by Istituto Europe di Design (IED). The urban campsite, which is free to stay at, is specifically for students who will travel from all over the world for Milan Design Week. Ikea Italy will provide “Perfect Sleep Kits” for each tent, enabling a better sleep for the students. This year, Ikea is also collaborating with students from IED to create both indoor and outdoor common areas at the camp that feature second-hand furniture, further emphasizing its commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.

Iqos presents a surprising new take on design. Curious X: Sensorium Piazza, a large-scale, monumental installation created in collaboration with that reinterprets the concept of the typical Italian plaza through a dialogue between art, technology and design.

The installation embodies Iqos's focus on innovation and Seletti’s experimental approach, creating a dynamic environment in which the public plays an active role. Digital structures are transformed through visitor interaction, while snippets of words and faces merge into the visual landscape, creating a continually evolving collective memory. Through Sensorium Piazza, the collaboration between Iqos and Seletti surpasses the boundaries of traditional design, merging physical and digital elements within a living archive of human connections. Immersive soundscapes and digital surfaces transform the audience from spectators into active protagonists, allowing people to make their mark through digital tools and intertwine their own creativity with the ever-changing design of the installation. The work reflects Seletti’s signature style, which combines classic and contemporary aesthetics, as well as the innovative vision of Iqos, inviting visitors to reach beyond mere passive observation and get involved in an interactive and immersive digital environment.
